It is the first vase I have created in clay, while echoing the forms of my earlier carafes. It also reflects the new clay bodies I have been using for my recent series of cups. I enjoy creating vessels that respond to the dishes they hold, the changing seasons, and the clays I gather. I had the opportunity to collaborate with chefs Noémie Dhooge and Marin Remy. Together, we co-created a collection of tableware that is deeply connected to their cuisine and the surrounding landscape. Through an ongoing dialogue and many iterations, the clay gradually took the shape of a series of objects with raw, spontaneous curves.
